AU Collaborative Degree Programs

The following programs are established collaborative degree programs available to students of northeast Minnesota through Arrowhead University. Earn your degree without leaving home!

  • B.S. in Accounting (Bemidji State University) *NEW PROGRAM*

    Accounting is an information system that represents the economic resources and responsibilities of business or non-business enterprises. Monitored over time, it is used as a decision-making tool for the allocation of resources and evaluation of responsibilities.

    Accounting information impacts major economic decisions that have national and even global impact. The Accounting program teaches analytical, theoretical, communication, and leadership skills necessary for effective accounting and for advancement in public, private, and government and fraud examination careers.

    Upon graduation, Accounting majors may write the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Examination, the Certified Internal Auditor Examination, and/or the Certified Management Accountant Examination and/or the Certified Fraud Examination.   • B.S. in Criminal Justice (Bemidji State University)

    The bachelor of science degree in Criminal Justice is a generalist degree preparing students for careers in law enforcement, corrections, and other public and private agencies concerned with the prevention and investigation of crime. This preparation includes a combination of course work, internships, and special research projects. Students considering this major are encouraged to develop a proficiency in writing. The degree is also appropriate for students who choose to pursue advanced study in criminal justice or law.

  • B.A.S. in Unified Early Childhood Studies (UMD)

    The unified early childhood studies program and licensures include interdisciplinary curricula that prepare students for work in a variety of settings with children of diverse ability levels, from birth through age eight.

    Graduates find employment in public schools, community and private preschool programs, early primary grades in elementary schools, programs for children ages birth through six with identified disabilities or delays, home- and center-based child care, Head Start programs, and hospital-based settings.

    All students complete a common core of courses in child development, parent-child relations, early childhood curriculum and programming, early childhood special education, community resources, and educational leadership and program administration.

    The unified early childhood studies major leads to Minnesota licensure in early childhood education (birth through grade three) and early childhood special education. International student teaching placements are available. Read More...

    The Business Administration curriculum prepares students for entry into the business world or for graduate study, and offers them a liberal education that will contribute to their intellectual, personal, and ethical growth. The Business Administration program offers study in finance, management, marketing, small business, computer information systems, and general business.     This program provides students with a firm grounding in the methods, history, and content areas of the discipline. Graduates are prepared for graduate study leading to advanced degrees in psychology or for paraprofessional positions requiring some application of research or human service delivery skills.     Successful managers are able to think strategically, communicate effectively and apply creative solutions to complex business problems. St. Scholastica’s Management major helps students develop these characteristics through a program that integrates management principles within a broad liberal arts education. Core studies include: human resource management, communication, strategic planning, economics, accounting, finance, marketing, and ethics. Students can apply theoretical lessons in the practical world by undertaking an applied internship with local or regional businesses and service organizations.   • RN to B.S.  in Nursing (The College of St. Scholastica)

    The College of St. Scholastica RN to BA Completion Program assists registered nurses to attain a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing.

    The requirements of the completion program include general education courses, a statistics course, major nursing courses, and electives. If you have an Associate of Arts degree or have met the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum, many of your general education requirements are satisfied. The Accelerated Degree Evening Program (ADEP) offers nursing and general education courses two nights per week.

    The Baccalaureate program is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Read more

    A professional development degree for educational scholars, which includes teachers and professionals with leadership or training roles in health sciences, social services, community education, and business or industry.  Professional development is achieved through critical reflection, theoretical investigation, and application of theory and research to practice in communities.  The curriculum is based on the roles that educational scholars play as teachers, leaders, and change agents in formal, non-formal, and community-based settings.

    Learners will develop skills in:

    • critical reflection
    • investigation and application of educational theory to practice
    • evaluation, execution and effective communication of educational research
    • cultural competence
    • participation in communities of learners as professionals
    • leadership of educational reform

    Core courses are delivered primarily online with one face–to–face weekend session during the first month of each semester. The required core courses are delivered over two years for professionals who wish to earn the graduate degree while maintaining full–time employment. Students are admitted to an identified cohort and register in two years of core curriculum with the same cohort.   • FasTrack Secondary Initiative Teaching Licensure (Bemidji State University)
    Delivery: Online

    This is an online opportunity to assist those individuals wishing to teach at the secondary level and willing to submit a portfolio to the Minnesota Department of Education for the purpose of certification. Teachers working outside their area of licensure can also add other licensed areas.

    Prospective students must have previously earned a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts or Doctor of Philosophy (or other) degree in a Minnesota Department of Education content licensure area.   • B.A.S. in Technology Management (Bemidji State University)

    The B.A.S. degree in Technology Management at Bemidji State University has been designed to provide an opportunity to build directly upon an individual’s past technical education and related work experience.   • B.S. in Career & Technical Education (Bemidji State University)
    Delivery: Web-based/ITV, various locations

    Career and Technical Education (Vocational Education) prepares people for careers in education, the trades, industry, and related occupations. This program trains career and technical education instructors for secondary and post-secondary teaching positions. Career and Technical Education majors must have prior work experience in the field they wish to teach in, and credits may be awarded for that experience. Visit provider's website .

  • RN to B.S. in Nursing (Bemidji State University)
    Delivery: Blended/Block schedule/ITV/Internet

    The BSU Department of Nursing is a nationally accredited nursing program, which provides educational mobility and articulation for Diploma and Associate Degree Registered Nurses to obtain their Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. The program is designed in block times one day per week to accommodate busy nurses who have jobs and families and who may commute from long distances. In addition, to increase accessibility, courses are on the BSU campus every two to three weeks and at ITV sites in Brainerd, Hibbing, Duluth, Thief River Falls, and International Falls the alternate weeks. Some courses are offered via the Internet. Full-time and part-time options are available, and clinical experiences are arranged in a variety of sites as close to the student’s home as possible. MASTER'S

  • M.S. in Education (Bemidji State University)
    Delivery: Online/Blended

    The Master of Science in Education degree is designed for in-service pre-K-12 and post-secondary educators. It is primarily an on-line program that allows students to individualize their master's degree with an emphasis on their teaching field.     M.Ed. Masters in Education (Bemidji State University)
    Delivery: Online/Blended

    Department of Professional Education now offers an M.Ed. applied degree for practicing Pre-K through post-secondary teachers to improve their teaching skills. As with the M.S. Education program, the M.Ed. degree core courses are designed to meet five program standards from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). Additional coursework for the M.Ed. includes ED 6155 Capstone Experience (in lieu of a research paper/thesis requirement) and additional advanced study in a cognate area. Visit provider's website .

    The Master of Arts in Management program prepares managers who can lead change initiatives within their organizations, professions, and business sectors. The program approaches management as a practice, much like medicine or law, which can be studied and mastered. It produces graduates who are skilled at identifying and analyzing organizational problems, creating innovative solutions, and making correct, ethical decisions at the times they are most important.   • M.S.E.M. Engineering Management (University of Minnesota-Duluth)

    The Master of Science in Engineering Management (M.S.E.M.) program provides engineers with tools to more effectively manage people, projects, technology, and information in their careers in order to promote economic growth, competitiveness, ethical decision-making, and environmental responsibility. As people in engineering positions often manage technical projects of varying size and complexity, the M.S.E.M. provides an excellent foundation. To meet the needs of practitioners, courses are offered in the evening and are available to remote sites by interactive television.
