"Iron Range Engineering" is a unique collaboration among three different universities to provide engineering education to the communities of Northeastern Minnesota, specifically the Iron Range. There are very distinct programs within Iron Range Engineering that cover upper division and graduate level courses:
Minnesota State University, Mankato - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
This professional four year engineering degree is hosted by Mesabi Range College in Virginia, Mn. This program builds upon the two year pre-engineering programs at Itasca Community College, Hibbing Community College and Mesabi Range College. Students would need to complete a two year pre-engineering program before entering this program, or transfer from a four year institution with those equivalencies.
Bemidji State University - Bachelor's Degree in Applied Engineering
This program is designed specifically for individuals who typically possess a two-year technical degree (can be outside of engineering) and are interested in advancing their professional career. This is primarily an online program.
University of Minnesota, Duluth - Master's Degree in Engineering
This program is designed to meet the needs of unemployed engineers, those engineers needing to maintain licensure or upgrade their engineering skills, those engineers looking to broaden their areas of employability.
